Fun and Funky Red Flower Pouch

Of course, I love this pouch.  I was going to take a break from sewing this week and focus on getting my website up and running, but I just couldn’t stay away from the machine for an entire week.  So I grabbed this great funky fabric and made a fun little pouch.  The funky screenprint and brigh colors make me smile!

I just listed it on my Artfire store, and if you purchase this pouch, there is a free gift included.

Here are some pictures:

Also, the poll showed that the majority would like to see how I make the flat make-up bags, so will be working on the tutorial and posting it in the next week.

Happy New Year!!

Better Pictures – Ready For Appel & Frank!

Okay, so here are much better pictures of all of the bags I’ve been working on.  I hope you enjoy these.  I can’t wait to use one of these sets on my next cruise.  I think the wood handle tote with a wristlet would be perfect for my offshore time.  I can pack it flat in my suitcase, but use it to collect whatever souvenirs I find while off the ship.  Then I can use the wristlet back on the ship to carry the few things I need when out and about.  I haven’t decided which fabric I’m going to use for myself… so many fun prints to hcoose from!

Anyway, as I continue to create, I am slowly realizing what I want my main focus to be.  I’ve made many different designs, but a few really stand out to me.  Especially the designs that I think work well for travel needs.  I’m an avid traveler and am always thinking of new things to use on the road.  I’ll be refining after the first of the year… in many ways… including this site.

Okay, on with the pictures!

Wristlet Love

I have made some wristlets that I will be offering at the Appel & Frank Show.  I need to make a few more, but really like how they are turning out.  they have  zipper top, a gusset bottom, A D-Ring and a hook with a fabric loop to put around the wrist.

I love working with hardware… it always makes me smile.  I just love how hardware can change the entire look of a bag.  I’ve ordered some very big O rings, and can’t wait to design with them.  I think I’ll come up with some fun stuff!

After the show in a couple weeks, I’m going to sit down and write out a couple patterns so I can share them here.  There will be pictures and instructions, and I will definitely welcome feedback so I can make them better as I go.

Hope everyone is having a good Thanksgiving Week.  The weather is finally cooperating around here… I actually feel like the holiday season is here for the first time.

Now for pictures:

Laminated Cotton – First Time Really Using This

So… I found laminated cotton, and really love it for specific uses.  Like make-up bags.  It feels a bit more solid, and is easy to spot clean with a damp sponge.  I personally found my fabric here, but I’m sure it is available in many places.

This pattern makes me happy.  It’s so nice and bright, but not overly crazy.  Nice floral with a contemporary feel.  Just great… and I especially like the blue zipper.  I’m becoming more adventurous with color, and I like it!

One day, soon… I promise, I’m going to write out some of my patterns for you.  I hope you will find this helpful.  Most will be free, and some will be available for a small fee.

Let me know if there’s a pattern you’d like to see first.

Butterfly and Orchid Metal Frame Bag

I love this bag/pouch.  I love love love it!  Again, I’m so torn because I’m going to sell it, but want to keep it.  The fabric is 100% cotton and is nice and heavy.  Add some interfacing and voila, a nice sturdy frame purse!  Where I live the butterflies are starting to come in droves which makes me think this bag came at the right time.

Thanks to a great tutorial at u-handblog I have learned how to make great metal frame bags.  It turns out that it’s not as hard as I thought, and is actually quite fun!  I especially like looking for fun frames.

I also made a make-up bag using the same fabric and a zipper.  I like the fall colors (since I don’t really have them much here) and the look of the orange zipper with the fabric.  It’s nice and roomy… I think I’ll be making one of these for each member in my family for Christmas… perfect little pouch for packing the little things in your overnight bag.

Happy Sunday!

Fun Zipper Pouches

I love making zipper pouches in all different shapes and sizes.  When I made the following pouch, I instantly fell in love and had a hard time listing it on Etsy.  This pouch is made using Amy Butler fabric and a nylon zipper and can be used for make-up, pencils, pens or anything else!

Isn’t this fabric great!  I love the white zipper.

New Purses, Etsy, and Hello!

I have started my Etsy shop and will have more items available each week.  I’m very excited to be bringing the items I like to create to this online store.  I’m also going to be soliciting local boutiques and stores, but Etsy is a great online area for my goods.  I like the community and so far people have been very nice and helpful.

I’m specializing in totes but will also offer up clutches, pouches and actual purses.  I love to create and bags are something I’ve always loved.  I like all sorts of bags for all sorts of occasions and now have a place to justify my desire to make new totes all of the time.

I will be using this blog to talk more about the projects I’m working on and things I hope to learn (or can share to help others learn!).

Would love to hear some of your stories as they relate to creating bags, selling online (Etsy or otherwise) and sewing in general.
